The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Clerk Specialist to join the Dietary department at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute (CMHI). This is a full-time position with opportunity for advancement, growth, and development with HHS.
The Clerk Specialist is responsible for managing the workflow of the cafeteria, inventory, menus, and vending and is the primary phone contact for the Dietary department. This position performs assistive administrative duties, some of which include obtaining and compiling information, preparing and maintaining workflow, ensuring effective methods and procedures, and securing office materials and supplies. The Clerk Specialist also organizes and oversees files and records within the department, while providing data in usable form to agency personnel.
The ideal candidate displays a high level of initiative, effort, attention to detail, and commitment by completing assignments efficiently and has skill in the operation and minor adjustment and maintenance of office machines. CMHI provides active inpatient treatment to adults in need of acute psychiatric care. The facility offers several services including individualized treatment plans. Support for patients with special education needs to continue their education is provided and individuals are encouraged to collaborate with staff members in formulating their own plan. Medication, group counseling, and activities therapies are offered as well.
