Applications for entrance examinations for the position of Deputy Sheriff for Cherokee County may be obtained from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office or Cherokee County Clerk of Court office. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must be a citizen of the United States. Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 60. APPLICANT MUST FURNISH: Current Driver’s License, birth certificate, military discharge papers, high school diploma (or equivalency). All applicants will be subject to a background check. Written, physical, drug and psychological tests are required, however, lateral moves for current certified law enforcement officers may be considered per Iowa Law.
