Emergency Room Nurse Manager- Perm- Iowa

American Consultants is looking for a permanent ED Nurse Manager for a facility outside of Sioux City IA.

The Emergency Room Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Emergency Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and efficient resource management. This leadership role combines clinical expertise with administrative and supervisory duties to lead a team of ER nurses and support staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership:
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the emergency nursing staff.
  • Ensure optimal staffing levels and appropriate nurse-patient ratios.
  • Monitor patient flow and department throughput to reduce wait times and enhance care efficiency.
  • Clinical Oversight:
  • Promote evidence-based practice and uphold clinical standards of care.
  • Act as a clinical resource and role model for ER nursing staff.
  • Respond to emergency situations and support complex clinical decision-making.
  • Staff Management:
  • Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate nursing and support staff.
  • Schedule shifts, approve time off, and manage call-outs or staff shortages.
  • Conduct performance reviews and manage disciplinary actions when needed.
  • Quality & Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission).
  • Monitor quality metrics such as patient satisfaction, infection control, and adverse event reporting.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Budget & Resource Management:
  • Collaborate with finance and leadership to manage department budgets.
  • Ensure appropriate supply levels and equipment maintenance.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration:
  • Liaise with physicians, hospital leadership, and other departments to coordinate care and support hospital-wide initiatives.
  • Participate in hospital committees and leadership meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • Licensure:
  • Current RN license in [State].
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required. TNCC preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience in emergency nursing.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and lead effectively in high-stress environments.
  • Knowledge of emergency medicine protocols, triage, and trauma care.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems and hospital operations software.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
