Emergency Room Nurse Manager- Perm- Iowa
American Consultants is looking for a permanent ED Nurse Manager for a facility outside of Sioux City IA.
The Emergency Room Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Emergency Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and efficient resource management. This leadership role combines clinical expertise with administrative and supervisory duties to lead a team of ER nurses and support staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the emergency nursing staff.
- Ensure optimal staffing levels and appropriate nurse-patient ratios.
- Monitor patient flow and department throughput to reduce wait times and enhance care efficiency.
- Clinical Oversight:
- Promote evidence-based practice and uphold clinical standards of care.
- Act as a clinical resource and role model for ER nursing staff.
- Respond to emergency situations and support complex clinical decision-making.
- Staff Management:
- Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate nursing and support staff.
- Schedule shifts, approve time off, and manage call-outs or staff shortages.
- Conduct performance reviews and manage disciplinary actions when needed.
- Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission).
- Monitor quality metrics such as patient satisfaction, infection control, and adverse event reporting.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and emergency preparedness drills.
- Budget & Resource Management:
- Collaborate with finance and leadership to manage department budgets.
- Ensure appropriate supply levels and equipment maintenance.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration:
- Liaise with physicians, hospital leadership, and other departments to coordinate care and support hospital-wide initiatives.
- Participate in hospital committees and leadership meetings.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Licensure:
- Current RN license in [State].
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required. TNCC preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience in emergency nursing.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and lead effectively in high-stress environments.
- Knowledge of emergency medicine protocols, triage, and trauma care.
- Proficiency in EMR systems and hospital operations software.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
