Environmental Manager – Leading the Way in Renewable Energy

As an Environmental Manager at our state-of-the-art ethanol production facility, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining our commitment to the environment while embracing the benefits of rural living. Key Responsibilities:
Manage and ensure adherence to environmental regulations and permits including those from EPA, IDNR, DOT, and other relevant bodies.
Oversee the application, compliance, and management of permits related to air, water, waste, and chemical storage and handling.
Develop and conduct environmental training and awareness programs for production staff.
Establish and maintain comprehensive recordkeeping and inspection systems for environmental compliance.
Integrate environmental compliance tools into daily plant operations and manage related assurance activities.
Facilitate and manage environmental permitting processes for plant modifications, coordinating with the Management of Change (MOC) procedures.
Foster and maintain constructive relationships with regulatory agencies such as the DNR and EPA.
Identify and implement opportunities for enhancing environmental performance at the facility.
Strategize and execute environmental improvement initiatives.
Conduct environmental compliance audits, develop corrective plans for deficiencies, and ensure their implementation.
Develop and track environmental performance metrics, identifying and addressing deviations.
Oversee waste recycling initiatives and manage hazardous waste programs effectively.
Perform regular site inspections, risk assessments, and lead environmental remediation projects as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety/Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in an industrial setting with exposure to EPA regulations.
Preferred knowledge of state pollution control standards.
Background in renewable fuels or similar industries is a plus, with specific knowledge of ethanol production being highly advantageous.
Prior management experience is desirable.
Proficient in using computer software, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and a strategic mindset.
Up-to-date knowledge of environmental laws and emerging legislations
