Lopez Foods in Cherokee, Iowa is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our growing team and drive our HR initiatives.
The Human Resources Generalist will support day-to-day human resources operations for a fast-paced food manufacturing facility.
Hours: Monday-Friday | 8 am-5 pm
Salary: 55k- 70k
Responsibilities:
- Oversee human resources management functions including talent acquisition, onboarding, employee orientation, and performance management to ensure seamless integration and development of staff.
- Coordinate with the HR Manager to understand staffing needs and maintain adequate headcount for all shifts.
- Administer benefits programs, including benefits enrollment, benefits administration, and workers’ compensation claims processing.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions, concerns and conflict resolutions.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Maintain accurate employee files.
- Support employee engagement programs, recognition events, and retention efforts.
- Participate in audits, continuous improvement projects, and policy updates.
- Other duties as assigned
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field OR equivalent HR experience.
- 2+ years of HR experience, preferably in manufacturing, distribution, or similar industrial settings.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and support multiple shifts.
