Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, IA, is looking to hire a full-time Laboratory Clerk/Phlebotomist.

REPORTS TO: Lab Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs phlebotomy and general clerical tasks necessary for daily operation of laboratory.

ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE: 40 Hours weekly, 8 hour shifts, 8:30am-5:00pm, no weekends

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent

 

License/Registration/Certification:

• Required: BLS Certification

 

Experience:

• Preferred: Phlebotomy experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs phlebotomy: venipuncture and capillary.
• Collects other samples such as: throat swabs, nasal swabs, nasopharyngeal swabs, etc.
• Instructs patients of the proper collection of samples.
• Handles patient’s needs in an effective and timely manner.
• Answers incoming telephone calls. Greets customers with professionalism and courtesy. Checks patients in for appointments. Other customer service functions as needed.
• Transcribes patient orders as needed. Organizes orders from outside providers in an effective way.
• Files documentation as needed. Keeps records and reports on results according to established procedures.

• Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
