This crucial role involves conducting regular inspections, performing daily preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical failures, repairing equipment, and completing work orders within the electronic CMMS system. High School Diploma required. Three years of experience is preferred. Successful candidate should possess basic computer skills, have the ability to handle multiple tasks, and have excellent safety awareness. Key responsibilities will include equipment upkeep, diagnosing faults, reducing downtime, and ensuring a safe operational environment. Candidates should be proficient with hand tools and power tools, possess a strong understanding of mechanical systems and troubleshooting, and have basic electrical knowledge. Regular inspections, lubrication, and adjustments to equipment are expected. The role demands meticulous documentation of all maintenance activities. This is a full-time position working 7am to 5pm Monday – Friday, with a rotating on-call schedule.

This position has a starting wage of $33+ per hour.

Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Forklift and heavy equipment operations is preferred
  • Knowledge of all local, state, and federal regulations for the industry is helpful
  • Knowledge of the ethanol production and maintenance processes is helpful
  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures for centrifuges, drying equipment, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, valves, electrical circuits, and 4-20 milliamp instrumentation is preferred

Description of Duties:

  • Conducts regular inspections of production equipment and performs daily preventative maintenance duties on plant equipment
  • Conducts preventative maintenance and repair work on stationary and mobile equipment
  • Perform all project work, maintenance duties, and preventative maintenance as assigned and necessary to support plant goals and expectations
  • Complete work orders and equipment repairs in a timely fashion
  • Maintain the physical condition and appearance of our facilities which reflect the standards of quality and service of our business
  • Documents time spent and parts used on projects and work orders by completing time records through use of electronic CMMS system
  • Disassemble and diagnoses mechanical failures and performs most difficult repairs on production and facilities equipment as required
  • Installs new equipment as required, and aligning equipment for production use as required
  • Performs welding duties as required in repairing production equipment
  • Rebuilds pumps, motors, seals, gearboxes, and similar production
  • Performs laser alignments on pumps and equipment
  • Maintains greasing and lubrication schedules on equipment
  • May do tig, mig, stick welding and pipe fabrication tasks
  • Under general supervision, builds, maintains, and repair production equipment for all departments as required
  • Possess a basic knowledge of most plant processes, controls, and operations to diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions
  • Maintains manuals of replacement parts, equipment, and maintenance requirements to facilitate emergency repairs.  Maintains such files and records in an orderly manner for future reference
  • Develops knowledge of maintenance files, parts, and vendors, and accesses information on the department computer as required
  • Work closely with production staff in training, scheduling, and planning to reduce or eliminate downtime, anticipate maintenance requirements, and maximize performance
  • Review reports and inspection details, assigning corrective action and follow through until completion
  • May communicate with vendors regarding the solutions to problems, and may make recommendations for the purchase of parts
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of hand and power tools used in the repair and maintenance of plant equipment
  • Possess knowledge of blueprints, equipment specifications and related manuals
  • Maintain spare part inventory
  • Organize, stock, and maintain housekeeping in the maintenance shop
  • Create and maintain a safe work environment
  • Assure that repairs follow all codes and regulations
  • Provide guidance and support for contractors and vendors needed for regular inspections, projects, and maintenance tasks
  • Maintains an effective working relationship with fellow employees
  • Verification of safe Lockout Tagout procedures before commencement of any work on equipment.
  • Maintain facility in optimum condition to assure minimal response time in the event of emergency conditions
  • Support efforts on safety and environmental compliance, continuous improvement, maximum plant efficiency.
  • Support efforts to maximize production through creative problem solving, adaption, and correction of process bottlenecks
  • Participates in waste and cost saving programs, providing recommendations for improvements in related procedures
  • Performs duties in a safe manner, utilizing all approved safety equipment, and successfully completes all safety certification requirements
  • Attend and assist with training, safety, quality, and departmental meetings and activities
  • May be called in to work unusual or extended schedules due to equipment breakdowns or similar circumstances
  • Works all preventative maintenance shutdowns
  • Complete all tasks assigned by the Maintenance Manager
  • Additional tasks that may be assigned by plant management
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local and company regulations

Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Work Environment: While performing duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Some areas have been designated to use hearing protection.  Hard hat, safety glasses, hard toe shoes and leather gloves are required in many areas.  Additional PPE may be required depending on the task involved.  May be exposed to known and unknown allergens.
