Join the WesTel Systems Team as a Network Technician!
Are you passionate about technology and customer service? We’re looking for a skilled Network Technician to join our Outside Plant department. This role involves installing, maintaining, and servicing customer premises equipment, including wires, multi-line key systems, TV systems, internet devices, and more. You’ll troubleshoot and repair fiber facilities, perform TV and grounding work, and ensure our plant and facilities are in top condition.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide excellent customer service
Install new services and equipment for subscribers
Maintain and repair existing equipment using test sets to locate line trouble
Complete all installation and repair-related forms and reports
Perform computer work in the billing system for troubles and service orders
Install and maintain some unregulated equipment
Perform all other related duties as assigned by management
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of basic electronics, specification sheets, and circuit diagrams
Knowledge of telecommunications plant equipment operations and maintenance
Skill in operating service equipment, including various hand tools and testing equipment
Ability to communicate professionally with co-workers and customers
Ability to read and interpret documents such as maps and operating manuals
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Fast learner and self-starter
PC and smartphone application knowledge (Google, Microsoft, Adobe, etc.)
Safety-first mindset
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of telecommunications schooling or equivalent work experience
Two years of experience in the installation and maintenance of telecommunication equipment
PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS:
Must be able to see service orders and trouble reports
Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with employees and business contacts
Must be able to move about the work site
Must be able to stoop, kneel, and crawl to perform installations
Must be able to lift at least 75 lbs.
Must be able to grasp and feel objects
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Perform work duties both inside customer premises and outdoors, often in harsh environments
Travel is required to customer locations; must be able to drive a company vehicle and maintain a valid state driver’s license
Must be available to work occasional off hours and participate in on-call rotation
