Pharmacy Support Person – Full-time – Main St. Pharmacy

Main St. Pharmacy in Cherokee, IA, is looking to hire a full-time Pharmacy Support Person.

 

REPORTS TO: Pharmacy Manager (Retail)

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the pharmacist and pharmacy technicians with delivering quality healthcare to patients/customers by providing prompt, friendly customer service. Will be the first point of contact for patients in the store and greet all customers with a friendly, helpful attitude. Completes assigned tasks efficiently and independently. Seeks out new opportunities to assist patients and coworkers with day-to-day operations.

 

ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE: 30 to 40 hours weekly, 8 Hours shifts, Rotating Saturdays

Education:

  • Required: High School diploma or GED equivalent

 

Experience:

  • Preferred: Experience in operating a cash register

 

License/Registration/Certification:

  • Required: Valid Iowa drivers license

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting care, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
  • Arrives at work on time and remains on task.
  • Serves as first point of contact with customers entering the store, in the drive-up, and on deliveries and will greet each patient upon arrival to the pharmacy.
  • Makes every effort to learn customers by name and address them as such.
  • Assists each patient at the POS station or drive-up and gather all requested prescription refills as able and complete the sale with the patient.
  • Operates the cash register accurately and scans products and reports when items are not scanning properly. Counts down the registers daily and follows accurate money-handling policies and procedures.
  • Reviews, comprehends, and communicates customer charge account statement information.
  • Pays attention to all notes on prescriptions and follows directions accordingly.
  • Notifies the pharmacist when a patient requires a consult.
  • Complies with all state and federal pharmacy regulations.
  • Maintains HIPAA compliance and adheres to privacy practices for our patient protected health information.
  • Scans in all POS signature receipts and all delivery sheets.
  • Bags and hangs prescription medications in Will Call in alphabetical order.
  • Assists the pharmacy technicians with receiving and stocking of prescription and retail medication orders on the shelves.
  • Assists with ordering, stocking and labeling of retail products.
  • Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly helpful service.
  • Completes training on the ice cream shop and serves customers on demand.
  • Trains on and maintains in store, all sanitary and cleaning regulations required by state and federal authorities in regards to safe food-handling.
  • Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms, counter tops, workstations, floors, and all other areas of the pharmacy and retail store as necessary, including assisting the technicians in disposal of trash and shred daily.
  • Assists the pharmacy technicians in ordering and inventory management processes, including processing of recalls and expired medication returns.
  • Assists with other pharmacy and retail duties as assigned.
