The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Psychologist 2 to join the team at the Civil Commitment Unit for Sex Offenders (CCUSO). This is a full-time position with HHS which offers strong opportunity for advancement, growth, and development.
In search of a mental health professional interested in being a member of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team providing care in a comprehensive residential treatment facility. This position will learn to provide treatment services such as group counseling, psycho-education, and case management for an assigned caseload. This position requires excellent verbal and writing skills and preference will be given to candidates with a master’s degree in psychology, social work, or counseling.
The successful candidate for this position will be required to obtain IBTSA SOTP-1 certification within three (3) years of appointment.
CCUSO provides a secure, long-term, and highly structured setting to treat sexual offenders who have served their prison terms, but, in a separate civil trial, have been found likely to reoffend. The facility provides state-of-the-art treatment to patients to lower their risk of re-offending and to release them from confinement as quickly as possible. There is a full range of diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitative services focused on addressing the conditions impacting a patient’s likelihood of re-offending.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
1) Graduation from an accredited college or university with a doctorate degree in psychology, behavior analysis, or counseling.
2) Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in psychology, behavior analysis, social work, or counseling, and experience equal to two years of full-time clinical work in the provision of counseling and therapy in an institutional or community mental health, intellectual disability, long-term care, or correctional program.
3) Possession of a license to practice psychology from the Iowa Board of Psychology.
4) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes twelve months of full-time work as a Psychologist 1.
