Description – Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, IA, is looking to hire a full-time Public Health RN.
40 Hours/Week Monday-Friday Schedule
POSITION SUMMARY: As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible to provide direct services for the child and adolescent health and oral health program targeting underserved populations, provide health education and promotion within the community, perform disease outbreak investigations, provide child immunizations, and improve health equity for Iowans to reduce the burden of preventative diseases.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Instruct patients of different ages and socioeconomic backgrounds in the techniques, practices, and methods of promoting and maintaining their health.
- implement standard office procedures and use modern office equipment effectively
- organizational skills to maintain health supplies and equipment.
- develop, review, update and recommend health programs protocols, policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines.
- maintain effective working relationships with the public, other health care professionals and patients/clients.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Performs other duties as assigned by administration and the foundation board.
Requirements
Education:
- Required: Registered Nurse
License/Registration/Certification:
- Required: Current Iowa RN license
- Required: Valid Iowa drivers license and liability insurance on vehicle used.
Experience:
- Preferred: One year in public health setting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, required.
- Highly developed problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules and frequent interruptions.
- Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines on daily work and special projects.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong project management skills needed.
- Ability to learn and use various community programs.
