Cherokee County Conservation in Cherokee, IA, is looking to hire two Seasonal Park Technicians.
Employment period: Flexible – May – September; 40 hours per week; Mon. – Fri. 8AM – 4:30PM with occasional weekend duties possible.
Salary: $15 – $16 per hour with no benefits, uniform shirts provided.
Description: Will assist with all aspects of development of county wildlife areas, parks, trails, and campgrounds. This will include but is not limited to: routine area and facility maintenance (mowing, trash removal, restroom cleaning, management of upland habitats and nesting boxes, tree and shrub removal, and river access area maintenance. Helps maintain detailed daily activity records. Includes the operation and maintenance of all agency equipment (mowers, tractor, trucks, trimmers, tools). May assist with educational programming.
Qualifications: Minimum: Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Driver’s License. Prefer education, experience, or interest in natural resource management, wildlife biology, ecology, forestry, agriculture, or related field of study.
Requirements: Ability to routinely stand, walk, sit, kneel, stoop, balance, climb and operate all hand and power tools for extended periods of time. Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to work outdoors in extreme hot, cold, rainy and windy weather conditions and be exposed to dust, fumes, smoke, and loud noises. Pre-employment physical is required.
