The duties for this temporary position include highway maintenance activities, operation of highway maintenance equipment and physical labor activities including snow and ice control. The duties require the ability to work outdoors during inclement weather, team lift, or mechanical assist recommended for weights over 75 pounds, and to understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Pay: $20.35/hour

Location: Statewide

Temporary employment period will be October 11, 2024- April 11, 2025

This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Department of Transportation.

Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services – Human Resources Enterprise.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or Commercial Learners Permit (CLP) upon hire. Within 45 calendar days following appointment, a valid Class A or B (level and endorsements determined by the appointing authority). CDL must be obtained and maintained.

Must be 18+ years of age
