Cherokee County, Iowa, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of
Secondary Roads Operator
Successful candidate shall be responsible for the safe, efficient operation and routine maintenance of
a variety of heavy and light equipment used in the construction and maintenance of Secondary
Roads, and for the performance of duties as a laborer or any other duties related to Secondary
Roads.
Successful candidate shall have the ability to learn new tasks as needed.
The Operator position will operate machinery such as: snow plow truck, dump truck, front-end
loader, skid loader, motor grader, excavator, bulldozer, spreader, rollers, trencher and all self propelled equipment in the department.
Position involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, on slopes and uneven ground;
following written and oral instructions; working safely & independently as well as with others in a
team environment.
Requirements:
Possess a high school diploma/GED
Possess a valid Class B CDL
Obtain Class A CDL within six months of hire
Pass a drug screening & pre-employment physical capacity test
Job benefits include $28.04/hour wage, IPERS, insurance, and paid leave
