Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, IA, is looking to hire a part-time Specialty Clinic Receptionist.

This is a clerical position responsible for scheduling patient appointments, answering and directing phone calls, faxing, email correspondence, scanning and other clerical duties as assigned. This position requires an individual that is confidential, dependable, organized, pleasant, self-motivated and able to work well with patients, families, and peers.

ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE: 20 hours weekly, Part-time benefited

Education:

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent.

 

Experience:

  • Previous medical office experience preferred.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of data entry equipment and of office practices and procedures.
  • Skill in typing and data entry with minimal errors.
  • Skill in the operation of office equipment including, but not limited to fax machine and computer terminal.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume office with many interruptions throughout the day.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with staff, patients and visitors.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Ability to analyze and solve work related problems.
  • Ability to take initiative to plan and complete assigned work with a high level of accuracy.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Schedules patient appointments with accuracy
  • Confirms appointments with patients as directed.
  • Answers the telephone – taking complete messages, answering questions and directing calls.
  • Greets and directs patients, families and the general public.
  • Provides general clerical support.
