Specialty Clinic RN
POSITION SUMMARY: This staff nurse is responsible for the provision of high quality and cost effective patient care in fulfilling Cherokee Regional Medical Center’s mission. The nurse is accountable for establishing productive work relationships with the medical staff, collaborative departments and peers. The nurse is responsive to community needs. The nurse provides leadership by maintaining standards for clinical practice, ensuring the fulfillment of hospital goals and providing clinical expertise. RN will train in Specialty Clinic Infusion and Cardiac Rehab.
ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE:
Full-Time 32 hours weekly, 8 hours shifts, M-F days will vary, no weekends
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing
- Current Nursing Licensure, State of Iowa
- Certifications: Current BCLS, ACLS
- Computer skills required
- Preferred 1 year of nursing experience and knowledge
Typical Physical Demands:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for
extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working
under stressful conditions. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Employee must successfully pass Cherokee Regional Medical Center’s health assessment and Physical Capacity Profile (PCP) test with a Level 3.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains adequate knowledge level and assumes responsibility for education to patient and family.
- Performs complete and accurate patients assessments and documentation, and follow through on all tasks.
- Recognizes potential problems and takes appropriate action.
- Ability to cross train to various department including: cardiac rehab and surgery
- Communicates effectively – utilizes physicians and coworkers as a resource. Communicates to the appropriate person changes in patient condition, i.e. physician, manager. Communicates suggestions, incidents to nurse manager.
- Active in quality improvement activities
- Completes skills validation, attends all mandatory in-services, and keeps current with changes in nursing practice by attendance at programs. Willing to learn all areas of the Specialty Clinic/Provider Based Clinic as directed.
- Participates in Mock Codes.
- Administers Chemotherapy and other medications safely. Follows universal precautions and demonstrates competence in assembling and using equipment.
- Assists with cost containment and collaborates with the nurse manager or designee to adjust to patient acuity and assist with adjusting staffing assignments.
- Displays respect for all individuals.
- Utilizes effective interpersonal relations with patients and family, coworkers, visiting staff and other departments.
- Displays professionalism; observes dress code, wears identification and identifies self to patient. Possesses a positive attitude.
- Attends work as scheduled. No inappropriate overtime, absences or tardiness.
- Ability to work independently and assess the needs of the departments.
- Demonstrates proficiency in computer skills.
- Must be flexible to work different days/hours every week.
